Not all Riojas have to be the same. Dare to discover an unusual Rioja!
What Makes Our Rioja So Unusual?
What Makes Our Rioja So Unusual? We were born in Mendavia, a unique enclave in Navarra that forms part of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Its strategic location allows our winemaker to work within close reach of Rioja’s three great terroirs: Rioja Alavesa, Rioja Alta and Rioja Oriental.
Our winemaker, Rodrigo Espinosa, originally from Chile, crafts intense wines in which fruit always takes centre stage. For more than 20 years, he has challenged the conventions of traditional Rioja winemaking — and even today, not everyone fully understands his vision.
Graciano is the true star of the winery and one of our defining hallmarks. Unlike most Crianzas, where it plays only a minor role, in our wines it is essential. Blended with Tempranillo, it gives rise to wines that move beyond convention and reinforce their distinctive, unusual carácter.
The vineyards surround the winery, allowing the grapes to reach the press within minutes, preserving their freshness, purity and expression.
We work with French oak barrels which, thanks to their finer grain, provide a slower and more precise ageing process, bringing greater elegance, complexity and finesse to the wine.
In the end, our Rioja is neither better nor worse: it is simply different. Unusual by nature.
